O O (2 Dots)
Thermostat has connected to your Pelican wireless network, but is unable to connect the Internet.
Check your Pelican Gateway for Internet connection. If Internet connection is present at your Pelican Gateway, contact Pelican Technical Support at support@pelicanwireless.com for further assistance.
X O (X with 1 Dot)
Thermostat does not find a Pelican wireless network.
- If this is being displayed at multiple thermostats, check your Pelican Gateway to verify it has power and proper Internet connection.
- If the thermostat was connected to the Internet and has lost connection, check for potential metal objects that could be now blocking the thermostat’s wireless signal. For example, a metal filing cabinet, a mirror, or a metal door that is shut. In the case this has occurred, either move the metal object or install a Pelican Wireless Repeater (WR400) to help route the wireless signal around the metal object.
- If the thermostat has never been connected to the Internet, finishing installing your entire Pelican system first, before worrying about wireless connection. If all planned Pelican devices are installed, a Pelican Wireless Repeater (WR400) could be required to help with wireless connection to this area of the building. Contact Pelican Technical Support at support@pelicanwireless.com for further assistance.
X (X with No Dots)
Thermostat is unable to communicate with its wiring module.
Your Pelican Thermostat has a wiring module (relay pack) that is removable. This wiring module communicates with the Pelican Thermostat over a low-voltage three (3) wire connection. If the wires are not correct, the Pelican Thermostat might power-up, but it will be unable to communicate with its wiring module, and therefore cannot function.
- Check the R, C, D terminals at the wiring module. Confirm they are tightly screwed down and making proper contact with the wires ran into them. Verify the wires in each terminal correlate with the same wire at the Pelican Thermostat.
- Check the R, C, D terminals on your Pelican Thermostat. Confirm they are tightly screwed down and making proper contact with the wires ran into them. Verify the wires in each terminal correlate with the same wire at the wiring module.
- Check that your R and C wires are the same between the thermostat and wiring module. Sometimes these are installed backwards and this does not allow the thermostat to function correctly.
- If the wiring module is mounted inside your Pelican Thermostat, check that the R, C, D terminals on the wiring module are tightly screwed down and make contact with all three (3) pins on the thermostat’s three (3) pin connector.
O Blinking (1 Dot Blinking)
Thermostat upgrade is in progress.
Wait patiently. This indication is normal and is there to let you know that the thermostat is actively being upgraded. The thermostat will restart once the upgrade is complete and normal functionality will continue.
O Solid (1 Dot Solid)
Thermostat is operating in vacation or a utility demand response program.
Wait patiently. This indication is normal and to let you know that your administrator has either placed the thermostat in Vacation mode to save energy or the thermostat is part of a Utility Demand Response program which is an energy setback for a community energy saving event.
If the thermostat’s keypad is unlocked, you can make adjustments to the thermostat’s temperature setpoints, override the Vacation setting or Demand Response setback, but you should first speak with your Administrator to verify.
